About Nolde

An independent catalog of community projects that give new possibilities to games originally released for other platforms.

Nolde gathers information about ports, reimplementations, recompilations and other projects related to game preservation and accessibility.

Our goal is to make these projects easy to discover, show their development status and point players to their official sources.

Nolde does not necessarily develop the projects it lists, and it is not affiliated with the trademark holders or the developers of the games in the catalog.

Availability, requirements, required files and terms of use vary from project to project.

Project types

Ports

Adaptations of a game for another platform or runtime environment.

Reimplementations

Projects that recreate a game's behavior through their own implementation, based on documentation and the resources available.

Recompilations

Projects that provide new builds made from source code or other components whose use is permitted.

Other

Other initiatives relevant to compatibility, preservation or running games on environments they were not originally designed for.

These categories are descriptive and do not replace the technical description of each project.

Project status

Build available

The project has a compiled version or another documented way to run it. This does not automatically mean the game can be played without additional files.

In development

The project is active or does not yet have a version ready for the public.

Archived

Development has ended, been paused, or the repository has been archived, according to the information available. A project is not marked as archived just because it has not been updated recently.

Independence and rights

Nolde is an independent catalog. Names, trademarks and images belong to their respective owners.

Listing a project does not mean that Nolde developed it, approved it or is officially associated with it.

Whenever possible, the catalog directs visitors to each project's official sources and respects the distribution terms set by its maintainers. Nolde does not host ROMs, proprietary executables or commercial game files.

Corrections and contact

If you find incorrect information, or want to request that a project be added or removed, contact information for the catalog maintainers will be published here.
